DIY Menu Wheel

Yesterday I came across the "menu wheel" in the honey bee wedding. I wanted to learn how to make it so I did a little research and found this little guy. Remember: you can use any color you want or for an easier wheel simply use circles with different patterns. If you find you have too many guests you could make one per table instead. Enjoy!

Supplies: colored craft paper, screwposts, ruler, scissors, screw punch, pinking shears (if desired), pencil & eraser, glue stick, cutting mat, craft knife, and compass.

1. Begin by measuring the plates you’ll be using at your event (determined this wheel should be about 8 inches wide to fit nicely in the center of dinner plates). Using a compass trace a circle, mark the center, and cut out. Then, using a screw punch, punch out the center with a hole large enough to fit your screwposts.

2. Next trace and cut out your secondary circle. This circle will have the window which reveals each portion of the menu. Cut out two holes with a craft knife, one for the title (‘appetizers,’ ‘dinner,’ etc.) and one for the menu items. To determine these sizes print out your menu text and measure the area. Be sure to measure the largest/longest groups of words so that the holes. don’t cover up any writing as it spins.

3. Print out your menu items on the same colored paper as you’re using for the backing circle and glue evenly around the paper. Note: You could also print the items directly on the back circle but from experience this can be frustrating if you don’t have everything perfectly lined up.

4. Put together and tah-dah! done!

"Anyway"

My fiancé and I just recently finished fixing up our new house. So, of course, it was appropriate I go shopping for pictures, rugs, etc to make our house a home. I came across this framed sepia-toned tree picture with a poem etched on it. This picture now hangs in the hallway between the living room and bathroom so I can read it often. I wanted to share this poem by Mother Teresa with you because I find so much truth in what she says. It speaks for itself. Enjoy.

Anyway

People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centered;
Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies;
Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;
Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight;
Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous;
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow;
Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough;
Give the world the best you've got anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and your God;
It was never between you and them anyway.

Birds of a Feather

Recently my Aunt Karen requested I feature this website, "Red Velvet." I was excited because I had come across the founder of this site's wedding a couple months ago. It's not that I was completely head over heels in love with this wedding but I was so intrigued by the website and the unique personal touches that stood out in this union. They stuck true to themselves! For those who follow my blog know I find that the most important part of a wedding. I do love the details of the wedding such as the back drop for the ceremony, song lyrics "Birds of a feather flock together" hung in different patterned fabric, the fan programs (genius!), library card place cards (lovelovelove), and I actually LOVE the different colored tights on the bridesmaids!! Before you turn your nose at this unique union think of how awesome it is that their personalities shined through on their big day!! Below is the link for this little ladies site! They have some awesome stuff so please enjoy!

Honey Fund

To top off the wonderful "honey day" I wanted to share with you something called "Honey Fund." This website was introduced to me by my great friend, Shannon! It's a website for guests to pay for portions of your honeymoon! How awesome? And it's free (for real)! If you're like most modern couples you live together already and possibly even own a house (2 houses in  my case) together. Most couples who live together have all the kitchen utensils and things needed to manage a household! That is why I LOVE this idea of Honey Fund. You can have a memorable experience and have your loved ones and friends help you out guiltlessly because it is, after all, your gift from them! I just love this idea and I will be looking forward to registering with Matthew when it's time! Below is the link so go to their site and take a tour!

6. Chalkboard Flower Box: if a chalkboard and a flower box had a love child, it would look a little something like this perfect number.

7. Recipe Cards: These kraft recipe cards would be adorable as favors with your favorite baked recipes scrolled down. The would look all sorts of sweet as seating cards too.

8. Candle Holders: Luna Bazaar is must go to spot for pretty hued accessories, including these amber hued votives

"I'll be your honey bee..." Themed Wedding

For those that know me know that I'm a huge Miranda Lambert fan. She just recently married Blake Shelton who's a bad ass country star! His new album Red River Blue was released July 12th and his single "Honey Bee" had 138,000 downloads on Itunes it's first week! You can listen to the song here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZjosn2u1gA . I absolutely love love love this song so I decided to post a Brandi proclaimed "I'll be your honey bee..." themed wedding shoot photographed by Brooke Boling and styled by Lauren Ledbetter.

I am now wishing 1) My parents were wealthy beekeepers 2) My fiance wasn't allergic to bees... "somebody get the epi pen asap!"

LOVE the honey dipper cocktail stirrers, bee invites, burlap bee bags, amber-hued candler holders! How cool is the chalkboard and reclaimed wood “Spin for Your Supper” wheel (to select your entree)!?

Stay tuned for a "I'll be your honey bee..." buying guide!

p.s: Speak of the devil as I am working on this post "Honey Bee" comes on CMT...

Delectable Engagement Shoot

These engagement photos by Jason and Anna Photography sparked my interest! I feel 'a lot' of engagement photos are many of the same poses over and over. I love when people use "props" in their photos. (Of course you're going to always have to have the plain face frontal ones for Grandma.) These are so playful you can't help but love them! Enjoy!
